Deliberations are looming

24 May 2017

Deliberations on an updated Waikato Plan taking into account public submissions are looming as the formulation of the final Plan enters the home straight.

The deliberations are scheduled for Tuesday 30 May. The deliberations agenda can be found here. The draft Waikato Plan in the agenda has been track changed so that the exact change made to the document in response to each submission point can be identified.

The Waikato Plan was signed off in February by the Plan’s Joint Committee for public consultation in a strong display of regional unity. It followed extensive discussion between councils, government agencies, iwi and stakeholders.

Submissions from all sectors of the community were sought from 10 March – 10 April to ensure a wide range of views is taken into account in the development of the Waikato Plan. A public hearing was held on 21 April at Waikato Regional Council.

Submissions will be deliberated on by the Waikato Plan Joint Committee on 30 May with the final Plan due to be put before the committee for approval on 19 June. The Plan will then need to be ratified by each partner council.

The Plan is due for launch in August 2017 and ongoing implementation after that. We’ll keep you up to date with progress as we work through this process. Read more about the current draft Plan here:
